Septuagenarian inlaw of Oba Akinruntan kidnapped in Ondo




At least six gun wielding suspected kidnappers have reportedly abducted a septuagenarian inlaw of the business mogul and the Olugbo of Ugbo, in Ondo state Oba Fredrick Akinruntan.


Madan Omogbene Adeborile was reportedly abducted at her Igbotako resident by the kidnappers who came in a Toyota car and shot sporadically into the air to scare the people.
 ‎They were able to escape with the old woman following the confusion that occurred after the shooting took place in the town.
Vanguard gathered that the victim is also the wife to the Peoples Democratic Party PDP chairman in one of the wards in Igbotako .
Narrating the incident to newsmen in Akure weekend a National Assembly member representing Okitipupa| Irele Federal constituency, Hon Mke Omogbehin said the hoodlums carried out their evil act unchallenged because they were heavily armed forcing the people to run for their lives.
Omogbehin called on security agents to help secure her release and redouble security in the area as the people now leave in fear, coupled with the perennial black out in the southern senatorial area of the state in the last one year..
Confirming the incident, the state police commissioner, Isaac Eke said though details are still sketchy but that his men are already on the trail of the kidnappers.
In another development, a policeman‎ and six others have been arrested over their alleged involvement in the robbery that took place at the state Oil Producing Areas Development Commission OSOPADEC.
Also arrested include the the chief driver ‎ attached to the Commission.
The suspects were arrested for allegedly removing ten brain boxes of the commissions vehicles.
Suspected hoodlums had invaded the Commission ‎and reportedly vandalized several vehicles and carted away the brain boxes and other valuable items.
The policeman who was on duty and the Chief Driver identified as Oyebamiji Akanji. Have been picked up for questioning.
Police Image Maker Wole Ogodo said seven Hilux vehicles were vandalized as their brain boxes were removed by suspected hoodlums.
Ogodo said other personal effects belonging to some workers were equally stolen by the robbers.
He however pointed out that investigation is still in progress and that those culpable will be charged to court .
